My father passed away a couple of years ago and he left my brothers and I his boat. I ended up keeping the boat and now I’m trying to figure out how to restore it. It’s a 1964 Stamas vhull 14ft boat. Currently has a 30hp motor on it. It’s completely gutted for the most part. I need help with figuring out installing seats, paint, and what’s the biggest motor I can have on it. I have a wife and four children under 11. So I want to make sure I can have room for the them. All help would be greatly appreciated.

Probably will need a lot of work, as it looks like it had a rough life to date and left unprotected from the elements of the outdoors? Hows the floor & transom ? My 14' & 15' were similar and one needed new transom, the other new stringers, floor (or liner on some of these 14' runabouts ) and transom. Also, 14' x 64" runabouts typically only have a capacity of 4 persons at ave 150lbs or 950lbs total (including motor, gas tank, battery & gear).....so be aware it probably won't serve a growing family of 6 very long??? 14' runabouts like this are usually rated for up to 35 or 40 hp. Hopefully you have a plate attached that tells you capacity & hp?

The transom and floor are in good shape. My brother has fished this boat the way it is for about two years. Yea I didn’t think we could all fit on there. What would be the best idea for seating?

There are only 2 seat plans for 14'-15' runabout.... back to back lounge type seats (4 people) and then there's the front seating (bench with pass thru or bucket) with back seating facing forward (4-5 people). You probably could fit all the family in with the front & back setup... that is assuming a couple kids are still little (well under 75 lbs).... but as family grows that will be short lived.

you have the right idea....use this 14' for 2 guys fishing....and get a bigger boat for the family cruising....that's what i do !!!

IBoats sells Back to Back. You'd probably have to fabricate your own Bench Seats. I did and it was pretty easy and turned out really well.

Ya, iboat, amazon, overton, defender marine, Jamestown distributors, and of course west marine & others all sell them.... i got mine on a sale event at amazon...normal price $258 for premium delux "Wise" Lounge seats, i paid $189 each unit, with free shipping. On a fishing skiff i'm working on, i am building the bench style and found snap on custom long cushions and back cushion strip on ebay for good pricing....search ebay custom boat cushions.
