Hi guys, brand new here but need help as I’m hitting a wall with this outboard. I bought this outboard extremely cheap as it had been sitting for a few years. It starts and idles great, but it’s taken some work. It’s a 99 Johnson 3 cyl 2 stroke. Model number is J25R3EEM. It was having an ignition and overheat issue, and the diaphragm on the second fuel pump for the VRO was leaking oil back in. I’ve deleted the VRO system, changed spark plugs, cleaned up the fuel system and it runs well. Well I had blockage in my water ports and I did a muriatic acid flush.

Ive pretty much been running it on a hose quite a bit as I’ve been repairing it. I’ve noticed an oil leak (I think) and it’s collecting on the lower unit. I cannot tell if it’s lower unit oil but I have a feeling it is, or if it’s unburned oil from running it so much on the hose and revving it up. It’s just premix now. I’ve attached some pictures as I don’t know where it could be leaking from. I also ordered a water pump repair kit as I figured some seals may be bad in there...not sure but I appreciate any help as I am new to this old outboard and not sure what to do. It runs well and I want to make it work but don’t have a ton of money to pour into it...

Thank you!!
