Does your coil say " use with external resistor "? You should still tell the guy that built the carb that it is overflowing

bolo,

Check that the grounding on the coil, electronics module and dissy are all good. Sounds like you've got some problems in that area. What are the numbers on the coil? are they 392-80557-A2?

Chris..............

Back already Chris? That was a short 8 weeks.

Bolo, sounds like you could also have a cracked coil tower or some bad plug wires causing the coil wire to spark to the - terminal of the coil that's causing your tach to jump.
With the Thunderbolt ignition, if you have a bad plug wire the spark will jump the coil tower to the other coil connections each time it tries to fire on the cylinder.
That could also be your hard starting problem. (Bad coil or wires)

A perfect example of why having a proper service manual will save you a lot of maintenance hours by turning them into boating hours........ If you read the manual.
