Thanks for looking! I'm in a bit of a time crunch trying to get my boat ready, I only have a couple evenings left before the fishery opens. I was away for work so couldn't start at her until now.

Last season, the motor wouldn't idle properly, would shut off while idleing, or when you tried to put it in gear. Once it was in gear and up off idle it worked great, that is until the last trip out for the season. Say you were going along at 5 mph and opened her up, she would be boggy and only pick it up to about half speed, it might stay like that for 45-60 seconds, then all of a sudden it would take off at full speed like there was nothing wrong with it.

Sooo..... I picked up a carb rebuild kit today, when I hauled the carbs apart I noticed this.

After a little looking on this forum, I found out they are not removable, so, does that mean I have to buy another set of carbs? How much would that crack affect performance? It seems someone must have tried to remove it at some time, and cracked it doing so.

Thanks for your replies!

Nobody?

Could really use a little help here. Would really like to be able to go fishing saturday, but I don't want to waste $70 on a rebuild kit if it's still not going to run very well.

I am not an outboard mechanic at all, but I have been messing with my outboard carbs for awhile.

That part is not removable, at least not by any method that I've been able to find. It also doesn't show it removable on any diagrams.

My best advice would be that you need to buy another carb. At least the main carb body if your drain bowl is still in good shape. Unless it's a brand new carb, you'll still need a carb rebuild kit to replace all the gaskets, O Rings, and floats.

Hopefully somebody else with a lot more experience will chime in.

Re: Need Help ASAP! with pics

That was my first thought as well, however that carb can no longer be purchased new. I thought I had a used one for it today, however it turned out to be one off of a 115 hp, no good to me. That one will have to go back. It's doubtful I'll be able to track down another before friday.

However, it seems that part is not a fuel metering part, it basically just transfers fuel from the float bowl to the venturi, so I'm hoping that crack may not hinder it's performance too much?

Try cleaning the tube with emery cloth wipe with acetone,
pinch the tube closed and silver solder it.
Rinse with water to remove the acid after soldering.
Silver solder is strong.
