Hi ,i have a 20 ft, bass buggy pontoon boat with a 40hp Johnson and the console is in the center with controls on top ,not on the side. The shifter is getting really hard to get in gear, and the throttle binds and sticks also. When i tried to order parts they said to just measure old cables, problem is these cables have a really big loop just before the engine as if they were 2 to3 ft too long.I am thinking maybe they have been replaced before with the wrong cables,or are they suppose to have that much slack? And oh yes how hard are these to change out? thanks Tim

A close examination will reveal that the cables are not hard to change. As you have observed, I would order the length of cables that you need.
