You all have been very helpful to me in the past and i know someone here can guide me in the right direction! I have a mercruiser 165 4 cylinder engine in my ebbtide 180 bowrider. The guy i bought the boat from has the wiring all jacked up on this thing. My question is pertaining to the ignition coil......what is the proper way it should be wired up? I have been told by friends to many different ways and i would prefer to get it right the first time so that's why i'm here........Thanks in advance guys!

Yes, disconnect the water cooled regulator. Didn't your conversion kit have instructions?

Re: need help!!! coil wiring!!

The orange wire from the regulator, should now be hooked to your alternator. The red/purple wire should be dead ended but is still hot so make sure the wire is capped and can't short out on anything.

The stators yellow wires should also be removed and capped. I would remove the stator if it's still there, then if a magnet comes loose from the front pulley (the do at times) they won't damage anything on the front of the motor.
