Hi folks,

We are downsizing into a smaller apartment from a home we were renting and now I'll be storing my boat at a garage I'm renting out. The most inconvenient thing is when I use the boat in salt I have no access to water to flush motor and rinse everything off. I have a '71 merc 135hp that I have always consistantly taken well care of and it has treated me well in return. I could use a trash pail filled with water but there is no way to fill it up there plus I don't want to run motor inside garage due to fumes. Anybody got any other suggestions? I also don't know anyone that would let me use their house. Appreciate any help. This is always the place I go when I'm stuck. Thanks, Seastar

Is there a lake where you can put your boat in at least far enough to run the motor?

RV park /storage facility. They usually have water for blackwater cleanup etc.

Can you launch and retrieve from a freshwater ramp and navigate out to the bay?

where else do you think they'd let me use a hose to at least rinse off? I'm thinking maybe transporting a pail of water over in the back of my truck and flushing outside the garage. Motor is pretty loud too.

you can't really flush a motor that big with a bucket.

Since you are on a trailer, why not ask the gas station where you buy gas if you can use their hose? top off at the end of the day. You'll have to find a real gas station--hard to find.
Or ask a gas station or other business if you can run the muffs for $5 (using about 75 cents of water if that!)
car wash for rinsing. again, look for a private car wash and ask about hooking up a hose.

Look for a ramp that has a hose--maybe a private or boat club ramp.

As long as you are running in clear water at the end of the day, it's not that big a deal not to flush the motor; rinsing off is more important esp. the trailer. Don't sweat it.
