I am working on fixing a 1957 3H.P. Johnson, but i need some parts. This is the first boat motor that I have tried to repair and I don't really know where to find parts for it. If any one has any advice on were to look or what to look or I could use the help. Once again thank you in advance for any help or advice you have for me.

Re: Need Help Finding Parts For 1957 Johnson

Your compression numbers are ok. The first part you really need is a service manual. Search eBay under "johnson outboard master manual" to find a PDF version on disc. Use the "Search" feature on top of this page and search under "3HP" (make sure you just search the Johnson & Evinrude forums) to read a bazillion prior posts. That is a VERY popular motor.<br />A 1957 3hp (JW series) is an excellent choice for getting familiar with 2 stroke outboards. They're simple and well designed and well made. Consumable parts like water pump impellers and coils and points and such are available online here on iBoats or at a Bombardier dealer or at NAPA Auto Parts stores. Other components like recoils and hoods and handles and such turn up on eBay a lot. Folks part these motors out and sell them in pieces on eBay. They get more money that way than for a complete non-runner.
