hey all, new to the forums on iboats...anyhow ive been looking for a new coil for my grandpas 80's johnson seahorse 4hp. I cannot find anything. he bought it used and doesnt know the year so i looked up the model number thinking i could find something...well like my title says i cant find anything. heres the model number...J4WCRN and the serial number...E5568412. Ive been searching around for a while and found a site called crowleymarine.com. according to this site johnson had a 1982 4hp with a model number J4WCNR....this is the closest is can find....is it the same??? my other question is on the coil. The bad one my grandpa pulled off has im guessing part number 512077 on the bottom, and yet again i cannot seem to find it. but when looking at the crowley marine site i clicked on the 82 and theirs looks the same but has a different part number. im so confused. could someone please give me a few pointers here....thanks scott
. Try Sea-Way Marine, or Marineengine.com There's hundreds of sources out there to get parts for that motor. If nothing else, look in the "Top Secret File" and check the list of Salvage Yards. These places should surely be able to help you out.
