Need help finding VIN on 1960 Johnson Super Seahorse 40 hp

I am seeking some advice on where to find the VIN for a 1960 Johnson Super Sea Horse 40 HP. My friend is trying to register the motor with TPWD and need a "pencil trace" of the VIN. I am going to look at it this weekend to help him out. I don't know much about older outboards, so any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

At the center front portion of that 1960 40hp, there's a large plate just above the transom area. That plate has the model and serial number. Those would be the numbers you need.
