I have two fiberglass hatches on my boat where the wood core is rotten. I plan to remove both, replace the rotten wood and reglass. Not a big deal - however - - . One of them is bowed due to the rotten wood. My intention is to put them on the garage floor face down, do the glass work and put a couple of concrete blocks on top to take out the bow.

My question is what to put on top of the fiberglass so that the fiberglass will not stick to the concrete blocks? I was thinking of either wax paper or alumnium foil but am looking for ideas. I plan on painting the surface after the glass has cured.

Thanks,

Howard
Miami Fl

SoLittle, how about taking the bow out, before doing the glass work! My Dad had a bowed Aluminum door on his Outdoor Smoker. He was going to have another one cut! I took the door off and Parked my truck on it! Flatened it out just fine. Now I know you don't want to park a truck on your fiberglass, but wouldn't it be possible to take the bow out before doing the glass work?

that's easy... plastic wrap... the cheaper the better.i.e. 'store brand '... don't use 'saran wrap' .. it sticks to that..
