Hey fellas, this may seem like a silly question but I dont want to fry my unit. I bought a new boat. I"m putting my Marcum LX-5 on it. I found a hot red wire to hook to under the steering column. My question is which black wire am I safe to hook to. can I go off of any ground wire or do I need hook to a specifec. Again, sorry for my ignorance and thanks for your help. Jason

There should be a grounding block near your fuse panel. All your ground leads should connect to it. Run your ground lead there also.

Do you have a high speed transducer for the Marcum? If so I am curious where you got it. Mine came with a standard ice fishing one and I am thinking of rigging mine to use on my boat for jigging. Marcum was bought out by nature vision so I am curious how well they support marcum. When you wire the Marcum if the red wire is not fused you will want to add an inline fuse.

Marcun tech. Now Nature vision as you stated has high speed transducers. I think they are 50 or 70 dollars. i agree with the inline fuse although the marcum rep told me there is no need for one. i think I will put one in anyway's.It just seems to make sense.

The high speed transducer kit is available through several marcum dealers such as the pro fishing store. Call around the price and availability can vary. I install an lx-3 this spring and it has performed very well.
