What hole is this?

New to boating and new to the forums so I’ve been on boats and know a little about them I just bought a 1992 16ft Stratos bass boat, over looking it I found some holes that look like they go to something but I’m not quite sure what. Ignore the ice in the picture it’s super cold where I’m at, but the 2 on top not the 3 in the middle.

I believe the one on the top left is the intake to your livewell, and the one on the right is a drain to something. Livewell, cooler, deck drain?

On a side note, when it warms up enough to thaw the ice out try to completely drain your boat and get a good cover over it to keep the water out. Boats are meant to be in the water not have water left in them. Livewells and coolers should be drained before you park it.

Deck drain would make since I guess...so I guess I’d plug that one to right? And I got a boat cover on it now, bought it when it was raining time I got it home it froze over. I was gonna try taking some rope and running it through that hole and figure out where it went just puzzles me because the boat me and my buddy fished on didn’t have them so i don’t know. Guess I’ll learn :p

Lets hope the water freezing didnt damage your livewell plumbing, because if it did, you will be pulling half the boat apart to repair

Livewell plumbing is usually plastic and doesnt do well with freezing

Let's hope the motor was winterized. Being a bass boat it's likely an outboard so it should be fine if it drained properly. I've seen people buy boats in the winter, the wood on the transom is frozen so they seem solid, come spring they are mush. Hope it's not the issue.

I agree with the previous ideas. The screen covered one usually is for the live well intake. The screen is installed to help keep debris out and not clog up the live well pump. And the other does look like a live well drain setup. But that is merely a guess not seeing it in person.

Post up a few picture of you new-to-you bass boat. We'd like to see what you are working on...

Just a quick update I got all the ice out of it and took it to the lake without plugging that hole and no water was coming in she ran like a champ also caught some good size crappie so I guess everything is fine.
