'90 100XP. I was running on muffs today after I deleted the oil side of the VRO. It was idling good at higher RPMs but when I would bring the high idle lever all the way down it would quit after about 15 seconds. Was looking at the motor and and right in front of my finger is a screw holding a black roller like piece on. There was a white piece around that touching a cam to the left. Half of it was missing and the other just fell off. Does that not touching the cam to the left causing problems?

In another pic there is what I think is called a cam follower? There is a ton of play on either side of it. Is that missing a piece around it?

Which leads to my last question. In the pic under the flywheel the gold piece which I think has to do with spark advance can be moved from left to right an inch with out any of the other linkages moving. Seems like a lot of slop or like there should be a spring that holds it in its starting position. Curious also is these things would have to do with the fast idle lever on the controls having to be pulled up pretty high just to get the idle to come up a little, and the same coming down? Have to push it down a lot before the RPMs will start to drop. Sorry for being so ignorant on what everything is called.

That part is the cam roller. A new cam roller has a clear, plastic outer sleeve over the black hub. With age, the sleeve tends to disintegrate from fuel exposure and fall apart. Once that sleeve is gone, it affect the engine running at idle and even higher rpm's. The spark timing vs carb opening relationship changes and can cause the running issues you note. Get a new roller from a Bombardier dealer: 331577 It's not cheap, but an easy fix.

Thanks for the info. I am confused on the part #. In the diagrams it is part # 88 and it looks like the throttle lever rides on it. On my motor the piece is attached to the plate on the side of the carb that moves the butterflys inside and it touched the throttle cam. Is it mislabeled in the parts diagram maybe? I have the other piece figured out that rides in the grove in the throttle lever, its #432572 cam follower roller. Just want to verify the one attached to the carb before I order the pieces. Thanks again.

As I re-look this part, I think it is actually item 61 on the intake manifold drawing. Part # 432693. About $ 9.00. That's more the real price on these rollers.

Thanks a lot. I could not figure out that part for the life of me. Turns out I was looking in the wrong diagram.
