need help identifying carb

I seen a carb on ebay with not a lot of info except this stamped on the carb: SAEJ1223<br /><br />Seller says it is for a 3.0 merc but I would like to find more about this carb, I would like to replace my 2.5L 120hp merc with this carb. Any help would be appreciated, thanks

"SAEJ1223"<br />That neither a part # Or a model #...........<br />Probably a Compliance # of some sort........<br /><br />If the seller has a carb that'll run a 3.0l,..... It'll Probably fit on Your 2.5l..........<br /><br />I'd be more concerned about if the Linkages,+ Whatnot were the Same.........<br />Does the seller have some good clear Pictures to show you,..???.....

It looks as if it will work, but I don't think I'm going to get it. It is only $125.00 brand new, never used, but what could really go wrong with my carb. As long as the needle, seat, and floats are in good condition a carb should work just fine. I think I will pass on this one even though it is one heck of a price and tempting. thanks

Your carb should have a ID tag, if it's a Merc Carb it will have a model number stamped in the side of the float bowl
