Was given this boat to restore. Looking to find out when it was build and model. It seems there used to be a plate on the exterior or the transom but it has been removed.

I would be suspicious as to why the plate was removed in the first place. Most boat owners would reattach the plate as it's holding the identity of your boat? I wonder if there is another place the HIN (hull identification number) could be hiding? If it were me I might want to get the HIN before I started to restore.

and welcome aboard, hope it all works out for you...

I thought it was strange too. I've ripped out the flooring and looked around but no where to be seen. I'm thinking the starcraft is from the 60's or 70's so maybe it just got weathered from being on the exterior?

I think you may find out the early seventy's boats do not have a HIN. Not sure how much help I can give you. Here in Canada you would still be able to register the boat. I believe you can restore it and then call it homemade, lol. Some folks will chime in shortly and provide real advice as to how to proceed from here. Once again, if the boat is under 9.9 hp you don't have to register it (in Canada). So the next question is how big and how much HP will you be attaching...

FYI, after next post you should be able to post pictures.

Well that may solve my problem lol.

I've got an older Merc 50hp to attach to it or a 25hp Johnston if i can get it working so I will need to register it.

I think it may be a 14ft falcon. Found a picture on this site that looks pretty identical.

Thanks for all your help. I found a site that was able to reverse search the registration number, unfortunately nothing came up. So I guess I'll have to register it from home built anyways.
