I got these Mercury shock absorbers (or dampers) as part of a large lot of surplus boatyard stock that I bought and hoped someone might be able to identify them. There doesn't appear to be any casting numbers on them (other than those on the rubber grommets).
Previous threads seem to indicate that they are primarily used to prevent the outboard from jerking upward when going into reverse. I assume they are only used on motors with NO hydraulic trim systems.
I have no idea what size motors they fit or during what years they were used. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
