Need Help Identifying Wire

2004 Volvo Penta 5.7 GXI. I have wire across top of engine that ends in connector. I can not figure out where it should go or its purpose. Please help.

Hi there, welcome to iboats!

That wire looks like it may go to one of the two volvo penta exhaust riser temperature sensors as seen in item number 5 in the image below.
If it not the exhaust riser, then it will be part of the engine temperature gauge especially if the gauge doesn't seem to be working?.

Thank you for the reply. They are the wires for the sensors. I found the other sides wire as well. Question..... both wires are not connected and no sensor in either riser. Is this normal? Engine temp gauge functions fine.
