need help on 1988 suzuki dt85

My Uncle has a 1988 suzuki DT85 and it goes about 100-150 yards and then dies. and now it dies when it is put into gear. Can anyone tell me what to check to find the cause. thanks for any help :)

Hi! i woud try to check the fuelpump first.then the fuel bulb,if not i think the carburators need cleaning...just remember to open fuelvent on the tank..

Well Took it to the lake today and got it to run. <br />it would do 5000 rpm at WOP and then die down to 2500-3000 rpms WOP and then speed back up to 5000 rpm.<br />Then it would die and then start back up and act real sluggish and do 2000 rpms and then die again<br />So I would start it up and it would run at 5000 rpms at WOP.

hi, it sounds to be the same problem as my DT65:<br /><br />In my case it was the carburator-set, rebuilt them or clean all carbs very carefully from coals, etc.<br />it goes back to 2500 rpm, because there is an electrical insurance in the cdi, which should prevent dangerous faults from your engine.
