I have a 92 model 40 HP, model no. T J40ELENM. This is a no power lift motor. It is manual lift. Their is a lever or handle on the right side that unlocks the motor so it can be manual lifted. Attached to this leaver is a cable that runs to something that unlocks the lift mechism. My cable is broken. I need part number and where to purchase. thanks

The cable for the Touch-Trim system on "M" models is part number 0434674. You may find one at sea-way.com.

as long as it is the cable that broke. if the connector broke it is a complete piston assembly.
do not try to open the piston, under extreme pressure.

Re: Need help on part for manual raising motor

How do I get to the cable. It appears to be broken where it connects to the lever on the right side of the motor. If i can grab the end with wire pliers and pull it will it release the motor and will I be able to see it better with the motor raised. Some threads say it is a plastic connector where it connects to the lever. Can I replace this plastic connector? Give me some details. thanks,

Re: Need help on part for manual raising motor

After removing the bolt though the motor support and the shock absorber type cylinder, I was able to raise the motor to put in the support used when trailering the boat. This allowed me to see better what was going on. Their appears to be a piece of plastic on the end of the cable that attaches to the handle to raise or lower the mower. How do I replace this? Another question, is it fesible to remove the shock absorber type piston and replace the entire unit with a power tilt and trim from a similiar motor? What is my best alternative?

Click the thumbnails; they are updated by the service bulletin that I mentioned, but may help.

I finially got to the real problem. The cable is not broken. The plastic end that snaps over the ball on the lever is broken. Where in the world do I just buy the plastic end? thanks for help.
