need help on tilt and trim issues

i have a 1965 mercury 1000 100hp when i hit the button i can hear the trim pump running but the motor dosent move up or down where do i start to diagnose the problem any help would be great:confused:

The motor is not susposed to move, the engine is. With that said...
Have you checked the fluid level? ATF or oil will work fine here. Is the bypass open?

the boat was my fathers he passed a month before i got back from afganistan we were supossed to restore it to gether but thats life how do i check the fluid and where is the bypass i am trying to find a oem manual for the"engine" lol

Look for serial # then post and we will have a look for manual.Probably fluid level or air in the system.Should have manual release valve,make sure it is tight on clockwise.If not,tighten and try tilt again.Check for leaks around system.

where is the best place to find oem manual for the merc 1000 100hp engine
