Need help please

I have a 1983 Johnson 25hp that will turn over but wont fire up and run for some reason. Im suppost to be selling to motor tomorrow and i have never had this problem with this motor so im really confused. anyone have any suggestions on what i can try and what the problem might be?

reattach the emergency lanyard and try again.

it's either compression, spark or fuel.

start with spark test.
pull the plugs (one at a time), reattach to the boot, hold against the engine block and look for spark while somebody turns the engine over. Use a plastic or insulated tool to avoid high voltage shock.

This will tell if you have spark/no spark, but won't judge the quality of the spark, for that you need an inline spark tester with a gap set at 7/16" clipped to the engine block.

report your results.

Would have to agree, start with the basics, Also, I know that some of those ave kill switch lanyards, check that as well
