Need Help. Prop Shaft Removal on a 225 DFI.

I'm trying to remove the propeller shaft on my 2003 225 DFI. I am able to remove the large nut that threads into the case. I'm unable to remove the carrier assembly that's behind it. Is there a trick to it? Does it slide out and mine is just stuck? Do I need to make a puller? Can I push against the shaft with a puller or does the shaft come out with it?
Any ideas would be great.
