Im haveing problems removing my bravo1 outdrive.
Im getting a little gap and it wiggles so its not the bolts holding it.

Transom assembly was new in 09 and new 496 mag engine was put in last season.

I had trouble getting engine aligned after new engine went in. I got it aligned as best as i could and forced the outdrive on a bit. (I know, stupid move)
I was getting a knocking sound when turning past 80% left or right and tried adjusting the engine mount bolts to try to stop the knocking but never got rid of the knocking sound and just finished off the season that way. Just didnt turn it to far when possible.

The transom was redone when the new assembly went on and the guy that did the transom drilled the holes crooked and i believe the crooked assembly alignment is whats causing the engine alignment problems but the old engine went back in then and i had no knocking till the new engine went in. Went from an 03 350 MAG to a 2010 496 mag.

Im assuming its just real tight at the splines.

Ive tried everything to remove this drive and its stuck.

The only thing i havent tried was using the trim with a block of wood between the top of the drive and outer transom plate. I read that this may work on another forum post but the last thing I want to do is break something, especially the new transom assembly.

Is it safe to attempt using the trim to force it off?? Has anyone here done that??

Re: Need help removing a stuck Bravo 1

Was hoping for some reassurance that it was ok to use the hydraulics to force the drive off but unfortunately no replies.

Well if anyone else was wondering........ I tried it today and it came off alot easier than i thought it would.

And to my surprise, I stuck the alignment tool in and it was alot closer than i had thought and was able to slide the drive right back on easily after cleaning, greasing and putting on new seals after making a couple adjustments to the front mounts.

Glad she came off for you. Seen em come off pretty hard from a bunch of different reasons:
1. Mis-alignment
2. People have "glued" everything together (don't need sealer / glue to put together)
3. Damage
4. Rusted around drive input shaft where it goes thru gimbal bearing so bad that it siezed past o-rings.

But the most popular was from the lack of normal maintenance. There was so much corrosion in the 6 stud holes between the studs and casing, it siezed everything tight (see this in the stud holes between the upper and lower sections too). Had to actually "persuade" drive off. After drive was off, then needed to clean crap off studs and ream out the holes to get rid of corrosion, actually making the hole return to normal size, greasing the snot out of it to prevent the corrosion again when re-assembling. After doing that, the drive would about fall off when nuts were removed and you gave her a little jiggle.
