I have a 2012 Crownline 285SS. It has Faria MG2000 Smartcraft gauges. The tachometer display has become almost impossible to read. I’ve tried changing brightness and contrast with no success. If I shine a flashlight to the display I can read it. No backlights to replace that I can see.
I decided to buy a replacement gauge, an exact model that is supposed to be new old stock. Gauge looks perfect. When I swap the gauges though it turns on and I can see and change all the settings and appears like it should be working however it does not actually display any real readings. It’s just all blank data and not reading my actual boat data. The tach needle does not move when engine is revving and none of the actual readings are coming through. It goes through self test with no problems but the red backlight flashes the entire time. I have plugged and unplugged several times with the same result. When I plug the old one back in everything works fine.
Any ideas on what I’m doing wrong or what the flashing red backlight means? Maybe just a bad gauge or something I need to do for the computer to recognize the new gauge or to synchronize with the other existing smartcraft gauges? I’m at a loss and can’t find any references in the manual or anywhere when searching. Any help would be appreciated.
