Need help selecting prop

I am trying to increase top speed if possible because I have plenty of acceleration. I have a 14 foot aluminum boat with a 2005 2-stroke 15hp Mercury. My prop says "a12 9p" (not sure what number refers to what). My max RPM is 5500 and my current top speed is 22mph. I am wondering if a greater pitch prop would do the trick and how much. Thanks!

Re: Need help selecting prop

Your prop slip is 6% and if you change to a 10" pitch from the 9" pitch you have now you will be turning less than the manufacturers recommended RPM and lugging the motor and maybe gain 1 or 2 miles an hour as well as losing your hole shot and decreasing your fuel economy.

You might try reading this for a better understanding of changing props for better performance.
