need help selecting the correct prop

I just recently picked up a 17 ft 71' whaler. I also seperately picked up a 95' 70hp johnson 3 cylinder which has a badly damaged alum prop on it. This prop is 14'' diameter with a 13 pitch. Is this pitch to low? I am looking to replace it with a 3 or 4 blade stainless and any recommendations on size and pitch that would work best with this combo would be great, thanks.

p.s. the engine is overheating when it is run just above idle for 20 mins but it runs fine at higher speeds, is this remotely propeller related?

Re: need help selecting the correct prop

1) Too little pitch? = Yes 2) what's best? = Don't know. You provided no baseline (WOT rpm and speed observed). 3) Overheat due to prop? = No!
