need help tracing 2 wires coming from the rear drive area

i looked in the manual. i have 2 wires cut and not hooked up . they come from the middle of rear engine area brown wire and orange..they seem like maybe trim wires. i got up and down working on the outdrive but on trim i got down only and gauge (trim) dont work.. i looked in the book and i cannot see anything.also when i look at above the fuel filter where their are whiles i have the save color codeed 2 wires just hanging there

Those go to the Mercathode. Go to page 7A-9 of your manual for a picture of it.
