In a test tank with the right test wheel is acceptable.
Otherwise in the water.

So took the boat out this weekend. Made the adjustment and settled at 1 turn out. Need to make more adjustments but weather was getting bad so had to leave. Did get to make a few high speed runs. At idle the motor almost wants to die. I have the idle screw almost all the way in. If I ease into the throttle it kinda bogs down but catches. At full throttle it runs good. Was able to hit 26.8mph (GPS) with 2 adults, and 2 kids in the boat. Also found that my starter solenoid works when it wants. Cranked fine then would just stop or would act as if the battery was dying and not turn the motor. Then I would bypass it and it would fire right up.

Maybe a shot of WD-40 in the key switch.
Unhook the battery, then spray and then turn the key and then push in the choke.
Repeat 2-3 times.

One of the top posts has info on a procedure called a link and sinc.
That will help adjust the linkage so you have enough threads on the idle to adjust it.
