I have an old white OMC control. For some reason it will not go in reverse or forward. I have the control open but I really don't know what I am looking at. Can anyone help me?

I just went out there and now its moving, but it is not moving smoothly. Also the lever that you push up to start the engine as no resistance at all. When I push it up and let go, It slams back down. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Need help with control problem

Just had some problems with my OMC controls/cables. Think the first place to start may be disconnecting cables from the engine. I had a break inside one of my cables. Is there any tight bends in the cables? Good Luck, If it works freely then start working the linkage on the motor.
