Hello. My husband and I have a 17' 1994 Campion pleasure boat with a Volvo Penta I/O motor. It's a 3.0 Liter 181 cu motor. We recently had it rebuilt and we put it back in the boat last night. We are now having problems getting the electronic ignition timed correctly. Do you know where the wire is to ground the distributor to set the base timing? Thanks.

do you have points or is it elctronic? if it is the delco est dist- you need to shunt the system to set it to base timing you will need to get a manual and a shunt OMC p/n 986662 wich hooks to the coil leads and you hook it to B+ which puts the system into base timing mode. you're old omc dealer will be able to order one from volvo or bomaider. good luck

What is this "shunt" exactly and what exactly is meant by B+???? Battery + (positive)?
