Need Help with Hooking Up Tach

I have a 1987 Mercury 50hp 2stroke on a 16ft Starcraft with quicksilver throttle. I am getting ready to install a tach and I need to know how to wire it up. I do have a extra cable coming out of the throttle control. By looking at my manual it says it is the tach wires but where would I get the end that plugs into it?? Any help would be appreciated. at the front of the control box (probably quicksilver?) is a rubber plug with 5 poles and one flat side. This is towards the intruments (powertrim-meter and tach).

pinnumbering/colouring of this connector;
black = pin D = earth/minus
grey = pin B = tacho
tan = pin C = temperature
brown/white = pin E = tilt
purple = pin A = plus 12V (at contact)

looking into the connector, the pins count ABCD - the center being E
