Need help with making a charging system

I have a 1966 fd-20c Johnson. It has the points and condenser system. I want to add a charging system to the engine. If I convert to the nova 2 chips cam I add a rectifier or would I just connect the rectifier to the hot lead on the ignition coils can anyone draw up what I need or is it as simple as old school marine alternator

Sorry, your scheme won't work. The ignition coils are needed to produce a spark and cannot do double duty to charge the battery.

I can't find anything in the OMC accessory Catalogs regarding Generator Kits for the 22 inch block

Solar panel may be your best option..

or an auxiliary battery if running a lot of electronics.

Adapting a 1975 model 22 cube ignition system might make it possible.----Research on your parts is required.

Some of the parts required

For Ignition:
Coil under flywheel
2 coils by plugs
Flywheel

For charging system:
Charging Coil under flywheel
Rectifier

If the later 22 in engines had a charging provision, then find a good running Donor, and use it instead
