I have a 88 xr4 150 on a 18ft venture wot it turning 5000 Rpms. The Rpms seem low to me it has a 24 pitch laser 2 on it should I go with a 22 or 23 pitch to get Rpms up.

You'd probably want to go a little lower than that. I dont think I'd run much more than a 21 pitch on an XR4. If you are staying with the laser 2 you'll need a 20 pitch to fit your gear case.

The rpm range is 5000-5600.

So, in order to gain 600 rpm(based on 150-200 rpm per inch of pitch), you need what pitch prop?

The Mercury prop selector will recommend a 21 or 22 pitch if you check it.

Like other have said you probably want something in the 21P range to get your RPMs up. Currently the Mercury Tempest Plus is the 3 blade bass boat prop to "have", but you really need a jack plate to properly set motor height to get the most out of it. You can also get a Laser II like you currently have in 21P fairly cheap used. The Laser II not as modern of a design as a Tempest Plus and doesn't offer the bow lift or load carrying ability of the Tempest, but they can run OK with the right setup.
