Hi, I am new to this forum, just signed up today and it looks like a great site. Also I am new to boating so you probably will be seeing me a lot on here.
I have a question about my tilt/trim. I bought a 21 ft pontoon to fish and ride in on the lake but the tilt/trim had been removed, guess it quit so someone took it off.
My motor is a 1995 Mercury Tracker, 4 cylinder 2 cycle serial number OG252917. The bracket mounted to the transom looks like that is where the tilt/trim mounts. I have pictures of it but I didn't know if we are allowed to post pictures on here. (I can send anyone pictures if you send your email to me) watereemech@bellsouth.net
I have found a guy that has a tilt/trim unit PN 822344A6 complete including power trim switch PN 896620, relays and bracket, harness PN 826802A9 with actuator and motor, all used but tested. He said this tilt/trim unit came off a 2002 40hp Mercury Elpto 3 cylinder motor and it will fit 30, 40, and 50 hp Mercury motors.
Can any of you experts with more knowledge than I confirm this. I want to buy it but don't want to buy something that does not fit and work properly and don't want to get something that I have to modify.
My motor has the relays inside it, a dash mounted up and down switch as well as a up and down switch on the motor.
What do you guys say, will it fit and work on my motor?
He says it needs a trilobe pin (whatever that is ) PN 821539 and 2 clamps PN 22740, where can I get these?

Thanks in advance for all of your help,
Wade

Re: Need help with tilt/trim

Wade, I have no experience with pontoon boats, however, I would not think they respond to trim settings like a vee hull would. You might post that question and see if you really need power trim on that 'toon. Power tilt would be nice, but with a small motor like that, tilting it by hand would be easy.
