Need help with trigger removal on Merc 50

I'm replacing a worn out trigger on a 1979 Merc 50 serial # 5336026. The problem I have is removing the flywheel hub from the crankshaft. The flywheel itself is held on with 8 bolts that thread into a 'hub' on the crank...the flywheel comes off no sweat, but the hub is on top of and wider than the trigger so I can't remove the trigger unless I remove the hub. It has a threaded inner diameter so I may need a special tool? Anyone ever done this before?

Thanks

First you should not disassemble the flywheel now when assembling it you need to index the outer timing marks with the hub splines. There is a flywheel puller that screws into the center of the hub Mercury sells them but you can find aftermarket on ebay cheaper, try to find oe with a fine thread on the puller bolt if buying aftermarket
