I have a 1986 Merc 35hp. Serial # ob138763. I have a severe case of engine smoke. White smoke is pouring out the exhaust and also spitting black oil. I am running the motor in a tank and the tank has an oil slick on top. The motor will not rev up like it should. I changed out the gas and put fresh in. Installed new plugs also. The only time when it will rev up like it should is when I disconnect the fuel line from it. All the fuel connections and hose is brand new. Thanks. Hunter.

Is the tell-tale showing a good stream of water? Give some history on the engine. Had it been stored? Did it jsut start this behavior? When were carbs cleaned/rebuilt last. Running in a tank will cause a slick on the water. Where else will the unburned fuel/oil mixture go?

Showing a good stream of water. This just started happening. Just had the carbs rebuilt with a new float and needle put in last night to maybe fix the problem. It will not idle at all except when I WOT and it cuts out then. I have never seen so much oil coming out like this. Boat is used very often. Thanks for the help.
