Need Help

I am wondering if anyone can tell me what type of connector is needed to hold the shift cable from the helm in place as the shifter is moved, the whole cable just moves in and out and barely pulls the lower shift cable to engage the out drive. It is the portion that is highlighted.

the groove in the cable locatres in one of the two recesses and is held there by a "U" shaped cotter pin

I know this sounds like a dumb question, but is that whole cable suppose to move when the shifter is moved?

No, that's why you need the "keeper" in place!
