hello all. I’m working on a 1982 Deck Boat Deckette 2. Most of the wires have been cut for whatever reason. My guess, things started failing and instead of replacing components, just cut wires and bypass.

I can fix it, but I need a wiring schematic. Does anyone know where I can locate one for this boat??

Any help would be mucho appreciated.

Good luck. Boat wiring is very generic and there are many diagrams in this forum. Wiring for the engine and harness going up to the controls will be in the service manual specific to your engine.

No manual. That’s the problem. I’ve noticed that the wiring is generic. I don’t really want to redo everything, but if I can reuse the wiring, I may go ahead and do that. This only has one battery, is that typical? Or should there be two?

most boat companies do not make wiring diagrams. they have the wiring from the motor which covers the helm to the motor, then they add lights and horn. look at the manual for what ever motor you have, that will cover gauges, start circuit and motor.

if there was a diagram, it was probably sketched on the shop floor or a notebook in the shop in the 80's

however all the wiring should follow the standard colors

as for the battery question. most boats come with one, some are rigged with a battery switch and more than one.

It would be helpful to let us know the motor year, hp, and model.
