Re: Need ideas for front casting deck

I just built one on my polar karft. I used 1/2 pt plywood for the decking surface and 2x4 pt for the frame work. I constructed the frame so that the deck created 2 doors that opened towards the center of the boat. This allowed for access to a small storage compartment in which I can store all of the safety items that I need to carry. I covered the decking with some outdoor carpeting and put the door handles towards the hull sides to reduce the trip hazards they create. I try to post pics later today.

Good info here.

Also, I've searched the net and read all kinds of things over the last few months, just getting ideas for the day I decide to pull the trigger and begin my boat work.

Search for things like jon boat mods, jon boat modifications, jon boat bass boat...etc. Tons of info around, many with pics.

It depends on how permanently installed you want it to be and what you want it to do. You'll want to keep the weight down as much as possible. It's going to come down to how much $$ you want to spend on it ( everyone wants to do it for the least cost, but how much to spend to do it right? )
