Hi,
I just moved to the Pacific Northwest (Anacortes, WA - Fidalgo Island) ... Being a boat lover, living on an island is killing me so I've decided to get a boat...
I found this add locally and I was wondering if you guys might be able to give me some info/advice about if it's worth getting or not (I know it's hard to tell with only the 4 pictures in the add) ...

My boat budget I capped at $4500 (would prefer less)... Has to be in the water, running and reliable at that price... interior/cosmetic stuff I will worry about later... Anyway, here are my questions:
1) The engine in the boat was a 351... I could replace it with the same thing easy enough, but I'd like to put something more efficient in. I don't care about speed, as long as I can cruise at 18-20 knots without problems. Any suggestions?
2) Is a boat like that safe in open water? I don't know if I'd ever actually want to venture out into the ocean, but, if I'm out in the Straight of Juan De Fuca, I've heard the waves can get pretty big out there. I want to know I'm going to be relatively safe. I don't mind a rough bumpy ride, as long as I know the boat is a solid boat and can take the pounding. I really don't want my boat to break in half, or the transom to break off, ya know?
3) How would this boat compare to something like a late 80's Bayliner 2455 with a 305, as far as safety and efficiency? I've looked at these, and have owned a 1989 2155 before, but I'd like to have something with an actual "pilot house" ... Enough rain here having a hard top over my head will be nice, stay alot warmer too!
4) Any random facts/advice/websites you can throw at me about this boat would be great, I've been having problems finding information on it. Thanks!
Thanks!
