Re: Need info....Imperial boats

Sorry this took so long. I have a 1987 Imperial VC-23 walkaround cuddy cabin with a Volvo Penta AQ-225 (GM 305 cid) mated to an AQ-275 I/O. I love this boat. It is the right combination of fishing/family boat for me. It rides very well in moderate chop and tops out at about 29 mph (not bad for a 4000+ lb boat).
This is what I've found out about Imperial boats... They were manufactured by All Seasons Industries based in Illinois and they went out of business in the early 1990's. Information on the internet is almost non-existant, and no one in my area has ever heard of them. I have found several Imperials for sale on boattraderonline.com, mainly in the mid-west.
One last note. My Imperial has a very odd shaped stern (compound curves) and mounting trim tabs will prove to be difficult without making special brackets.
Good luck with your Imperial :)

wdschaffer & ahein,

I am Thomas and I work for Bennett Marine in the Client Service Department.

Many vessels these days tend to have some very unique transom designs, which prove to be an "adventure" to install trim tabs on but not impossible. I have helped many clients install trim tabs on vessels that were thought to be undoable and I have only come across two vessels, so far, that just couldn't be done without resorting to a Special Configuration design (read custom fit!!). In many cases it is just a matter of talking to you directly and visualizes your mounting limitations or sending us some photos/drawings (w/measurements) for us to better understand the situation. Most of the time we have a solution &/or idea that will resolve the limitation/issue without much trouble. If you would like to test it out, please contact me and we will see what can be done!

I look forward to your reply.

Sincerely,
MJ Thomas
Bennett Marine, Inc.
Client Services
trimtabs@earthlink.net
www.bennetttrimtabs.com
