Need info on a Mercury 850 Thunderbolt (4cyl)

The only serial number I can find under the engine cover, is on the right side, towards the back. Best I can read it is9086382. There is a serial number on the plate that bolts it to the transom that is 6524372. It does have power trim if that helps. Im looking for the model year of it, and any more info that can be given.

Neither one of the numbers make sense according to this:

The correct number should be the one on the plate riveted to the transom clamp. Whether it has a red band or a blue band on the removable engine cover will help one of the professionals determine it too.

The number I gave is the one from the Transom Clamp, but here are a couple pics.

By the way, it is totally possible that the motor has been swapped on to this transom clamp. We were told this is the 3rd motor to be on this boat. Also, I need a 332-4895 coil, we fried this one with a $&*^&*$@ mistake.

We absolutely could not get it to fire today. We were really hoping it would be as easy as my brothers 1100SS Merc, and just fire right up for us, but we were wrong.

Also, the 850 has a 17P 3 blade prop. Does that seem normal for a Pontoon boat ?

The 9086382 s/n if found on a small disc (welch plug) on the engine comes up as a Belgium made engine:

85 850 4-cyl 9069879 9110013 1975 Belgium

The transom s/n comes up as a model:

1115524 MERCURY 1984 115

115 115 6-cyl 6440183 6630170 1984 USA

So it may be that someone has re-powered the engine.

Does anyone have wiring diagrams for the motor and for the control box that operates the power trim ?
