need info on allmand boats pls

hi all ... i recently purchased a 1973 john allmand 34ft and have plans on some restoration and need some general info and opinions on the boat itself. Apparently allmand has been out of buisness for some time and am having some trouble finding much on the web.. if anyone has ANY.... info pls respond thanks.....

thanks snapper i also found that site but not too informative im really looking for a photo and any opinions on quality of boat.i cant even find one for sale on the web that might have a photo of that year and size.agian thanks anyway for the reply....

great thanks again snapper really appreciate it.it seems by the prices i got a great deal at $9000. also mine looks to be in good shape.i havent had a chance to get her out for a true ocean test yet because of the time of year i bought her but seemed ok in the bay.im looking foward to it ....thanks again

I bought a 1973 J Allmand/Super Nova 19' two years ago. Finished the rebuild this past summer (are we ever done?). Did a lot of research on Allmands before I started and while I was doing it. To be honest there isn't much out there. The Allmand Boat Co was restarted a couple years back by the son and for some reason they will not give out any info (unless they are doing the work) on past boats. I think they are trying to distance them selves for the former bankrupt company. Either that or the son doesn't get along with father. Any way after many tries I never got any info. I once talked to a guy that worked for them (the father) at on time. He said one of the reasons they went out of business was they didn't skimp on construction. At a time boats were made thinner and thinner they stayed true and made there hulls like a tank that still went through the water very well. Being a higher end boat builder in the mid 70's was a recipe for a slow death. I know no one that is a willing seller of a Allmand just for the money. There is some sort reason why they have to. Most say they are the best boat they ever had and I agree. When I did my rebuild they only thing had to do to the hull,transom and decks was cosmetic. The motor was shot but the outdrive was fine and for a 30 year old boat that wasn't taken care of at all for the last couple years the past owner had it (he was very old and not in the best of health) that aint to bad. <br />P.S. thanks f-in screenname the construction of the boat is what really caught my eye its like a tank allthough its a little scimpy in the beam {10 ft}i think she will be ok on my offshore advetures anyway thanks again

I don't have that problem. Mine, like I said before, is 19' long but at the transom the beam is 8' wide. Very stable at high speed in a wake. Just right in the rivers and can handle its self in the bay. I just love it.

hey muzzy<br />just discover this site,hope ur still in<br />i own 34 allmand s/f since 99<br />have got some original info......ie<br />brochures,spec sheets,sales lit<br />love to talk<br />also did extensive modernazation<br />since then, still working on it<br />ur rite hull is great, drove her home from<br />jersey shore thru veranzano

they were one of the best built boats, people don't give them up when they get them. kind of like the Egg Harbor people.

There's an Allmand down the road from me. Maybe 21-foot or so. Called a Citation... Not sure what the story is on it, but it's been there awhile and would probably qualify as a project boat at this point...

I recently rebuilt this 26 and am using it as a charter boat in Panama City , fldoes anyone know how I can get some vintage photos of this model? I have even contacted Allmand boats but they were no help.THANKS EVERYONE,Capt.Scott
