Need info on engine and out drive

I resently was given a 27 foot Delta conic x-270 SE (imp) the engine and part of the outdrive was stolen out. and trailer sold out from under it. I dont know what engine will fit back in or what drive shaft is needed. I dont know what year the boat is. the model # xmps7795e585 if any one can give may any info it would be great appreciated.<br /><br /> Thank You

First off...Its a 1985 model boat. What color is the transom plate inside the boat. If its black its Mercrusier. If its Mercrusier my "Bet" it was a 260HP (Chevy 350)But thats a guess only from here. Got any pictures?

yes, it is a murcruiser. I will try to get a picture and any more info I can. Thanks for the feed back.

If it is a mercruiser my suggestion would be to order the unit as a whole, you can do that straight from mercs site. then drop it in and you should be ready to roll.

If the transom plate is Still attached to the inside of the boat... Measure the distance between the motor mount bolt holes.... If it's 9"s it's an alpha1, Unless there are 8 bolts through the transom, Then it's an Alpha1 gen II, or Possibly a Bravo....... If it's 15"s it's a Mod.1.....<br /> You can install Any motor you care... Just buy a Junk Boat, with a good drive-line,+ Install It Into Yours...<br />As long as you're going form Merc, to Merc... The Major holes are the Same..... You may, or may not have to drill a couple more holes....
