model #40452S, SN E01005. I need to know the year, HP, and if parts are available. Is it worth putting a new starter on it, what is it worth? Excellent compression and condition. jauk11@yahoo.com
Yup - 1964 and 40hp. Look for a starter on Ebay or have the starter rebuilt by a motor shop. The old motors aren't worth all that much, but if it's in good condition, for a $100 or so in tune-up parts, you'll have a great running motor that will last another 50 years. It's well worth putting some money into it when you consider the price of a new 40hp motor.
