need info on thurmostat housing merc 5.7L

HELLO again guys, my is <br /><br />iam having over heat while at idle if i put it in nutral at 1500 rpm the guage come right back to 150 from 190.<br /><br />i know this is a sighn of outdrive impeller problem, but but???? at the thurmostat housing the two outlet with the checkballs a little piece of both end is broken off so when the balls sits there is a space open. when at about 3500 rpm one riser is so hot i caunt keep my hand on it i switch manifold and risers from one side to the other and the problem did not follow what could cause one side to be so hot ?? would a circluating pump going bad cause this<br /><br />thanks for any info

I wouldn't think the circulating pump would cause it, no. You're 100% sure all the hoses were/are in the proper places/sequence? I know on our 1984 260, there were two that were easy to switch. I am not sure what those balls did in those sysytems. And my 1997 5.7 doesn't have them.

You didn't replace the manifold and riser on only one side before this happened did you?

thanks guys for the quick info don as i know you saw most of my problem with this project boat.<br /><br />well the risers are new not even 5 month old the manifold is what i got the boat with. they kinda look great but who knows. the stat housing i soaked in asid and there is no restriction in it but the ends with both ball chip off <br /><br />i think ihe hoses route perfect <br /><br />oh guys one thing in the stat housing i use a o ring gasket, put the gasket then the thurmostat sits on top of it is that the right way guys/????
