Ouboard prices vary quite a bit depending on the area of country. Do some searching and see what the going price is for your area.

What is the price he's asking? One thing to consider, is what condition it is, appearancewise too. Is the paint in top notch condition? Has it ever been overheated? Have you taken a compression test? If the compression is completely even on all cylinders, then that's a good sign.

Post some pics of this bad boy and some other knowledgable members here will chime in.

By "the Book" are you referring to NADA? If so then forget about that, prices they list are useless. Also take into account that what you see on craigslist are what people hope to get paid for something, not necessarily what they actually sell it for.

Search through this section, there'll be tons of advise on what to look for when buying an engine. If you know that it's been properly maintained would be a huge plus.

I gotta second the NADA is useless comment, the amount they say a motor is worth and the cost of replacing one are totally different figures. According to NADA I can replace my motor for $150............yeah right!!.
