Long story short I bought a boat and it has a Mercury 850 with Thunderbolt ignition. It is a four cylinder and the serial number is 7063213, what I'm looking for is the year of the motor(just incase I need to order parts)... Thanks

Canadian motor, i'd say a 75.

Thanks for the info, I wasn't to sure if it was the original motor but it sounds like it is as the boat is a '76. Does anyone know how often a 2 stroke outboard needs to be rebuilt, the motor is a Mercury 850 ?

All depends on the motor, do the simple stuff first like checking the compression. If the compression is good on all 4 then move to the carbs it the state is unknown.
