Hello, I just bought a 1998 Larson 310 Cabrio. It was a repo and needs a lot of love, but once it is cleaned up and has a few parts replaced, it will be a beauty. I have been on the hunt for a replacement bow pulpit for my boat. It is not an easy thing to find apparently. I do not want a cheezy add on, I would like a direct replacement, but cannot find a boat graveyard that has anything I need. I also, regardless of digging, can't find a Larson parts phone number where I can purchase a direct replacement from Larson.

It looks like the previous owners left the lines too loose and the bow pulpit was crushed between the weight of the boat and the dock it was moored to. I am attaching photos, if you can figure out what they mean ;)

I would like to have the bow pulpit fixed as soon as possible and my fiberglass guy is as lost as I am. which only leads me to believe I need a new fiberglass guy ;)

If anyone can help me find what I am looking for, that would be great. Also, if anyone knows a supurb fiberglass guy in the metro Detroit area, boat is in Wyandotte, MI, that would be helpful too.

Thanks!

Thank you for your response! I ended up building one on my own! Some marine wood, fiberglass, some Gelcoat and lots of hard work ended up working out really well! It looks better than the factory pulpit! :) I appreciate your help! :)

Really nice workmanship on your bow pulpit! I looked at your other photos on your boat too. Seems like regardless of the color scheme on the boat Larson used that same whacky printed material internally.

I took out our "booth" to re-carpet (see separate thread on that) and found so much extra room in the cabin that I am thinking of keeping that booth out and building a couch replacement to open up the cabin more and build in a rod locker under the couch. I will keep the table though. Never going to sleep 6 on that boat anyhow :) Oh, and planning on getting rid of that printed pattern stuff Larson provided.

Re: Need Larson 310 Cabrio replacement bow pulpit

Thanks for your kind words! We worked our hearts out on the boat last year. We do think the bow pulpit turned out beautifully! I do agree with you about the hideous 1980 waterbed sheet fabric! I do not know what boat designers are thinking when they put this type of fabric on boats :) But with all the work we put into last year's outside work, we are going to focus on the cabin, and a bit of exterior, this year. We are ripping out all that carpet and putting in vinyl wood floor. We love the look and are impressed at the amount of traction the wood flooring has these days. We have decided to go with a good outdoor/marine flooring from Home Depot (same quality as plasteak, nuteak and other outdoor vinyl wood flooring). We are getting the materials for about $3 a sqft vs $15 a sqft, which is a huge savings and we are happy to not have carpet to shampoo twice a season.

We are also re-upholstering the cabin. We are doing the curtains and trim in a simple small chevron pattern flint grey color, the small seats and some bed pillow shams in scarlet red velvet and the dinette/booth in off white marine vinyl. The wood floor will be rosewood with an ebony grain (very striking). I will have to post before, after and during photos.

Your cabin does look huge without the dinette! GREAT JOB ON THE CARPET!!! It looks great! We need to keep ours in place only because we actually use it a lot. My son always has a friend or two who find their way down to the boat and we use it over night out on the water regularly (3-4 nights a week in the summer). We have actually slept 7 on the boat. My son and I are 5'10" and 6'1" respectively so we need space to sleep, but if you need to sleep more, you can always make the shorter people lay width wise on the forward berth. It has worked for us in a jam.

Here is the materials we are leaning towards for the re-vamped couch and interior on ours

http://s1245.photobucket.com/albums/gg590/ckalupa/?action=view&current=material-1.jpg

The dark brown will be the seat cushion, the middle one is the seat back, and the red on the top is for the three valences and the bed edging. Will use the printed pattern also for the two seats and the pillow shams. The colors wash out a bit on this camera phone image - much richer in person.

I laughed like crazy when I read the part of the "1980's waterbed sheets" - you hit the nail on the head - especially for a boat that was made in 1998 (in my case). And you already know how it looks when 10 years faded!
